Apprenticeship

Vaughn Industries offers apprenticeship programs in all of our specialized trades:  Electrical, High Voltage (Substation Electrician and Lineman), Mechanical (Sheet Metal), and Pipefitter.  All of Vaughn Industries apprenticeship programs are state and federally approved.

Classroom
The electrical, mechanical (sheet metal), pipefitter, and substation electrician programs are 4 year programs.  The high voltage transmission and distribution program is an intensive 3 year program.  Apprentices receive knowledge and understanding of the trade through hands on learning on the jobsite and through labs and bookwork in apprenticeship classes.  Apprentices must maintain a minimum grade point average of 70 percent to advance to the next year.  Apprentices are required to obtain a minimum of 144 hours of classroom training per year.  Classes meet one day per week starting in August. Apprenticeship classes are held at either Vaughn Industries Training Center located in Carey, Ohio or at a partnering program in Lewis Center, Ohio.

On-The-Job Training
Apprentices will receive a minimum of 2000 hours of on the job training per year.  Apprentices are required to track their hours in a logbook.  Each trade has specialized categories, with a required number of hours to be obtained in each category by the end of the apprenticeship program.  This ensures that the apprentice is experienced in all aspects of their trade.
